In the Spotlight: David Axelrod, Karl Rove, and Upstate Congressional Fundraising
This series highlights recent work of political journalists covering the region and New York state.
Edward Harris from the Observer Dispatch summarizes the Common Ground talk at Hamilton College where Susan Page of The Washington Post moderated a discussion with David Axelrod and Karl Rove. Axelrod shared that modern communication is much different now, even compared to the Obama presidency. Rove believes that “many people are getting their information from unaccredited sources and are actively searching for info that makes them comfortable," but is not necessarily right.
Mark Weiner from Syracuse.com reports on Claudia Tenney’s reaction to her “weak fundraising.” Tenney (NY-22) is unconcerned publically, given she’s regularly been outspent and has nearly raised as much money this year as last, during the campaign. Meanwhile, John Katko (NY-24) has raised over $900,000, the majority of which has come from PAC contributions, far more than Tenney and his Democratic challengers.
